Eliana - 6 months!!!

Eliana you are 6 months old!!!

-You are still wearing some 3-6 month clothing, but mostly 6 months. I have put you in a

few onesies that were 6-9 months.

-You are wearing a size 3 diaper now.

- I’m not sure how much you weigh, and your doctor’s appointment isn’t until next week. I

would guess between 16 and 17 pounds.

- I also don’t know how long you are.

-You are still refusing to take a bottle or sippy cup. You know…the usual.

- You have eaten rice cereal, avocado, banana, and sweet potatoes. You were doing pretty

well with the rice cereal, and then we didn’t give you any for a bit (oops). Now you’re not

really thrilled with anything we have tried to give you. Today I tried to give you banana,

and you just kept spitting it at me. Have I mentioned that you’re stubborn?

- You are really, really wanting to crawl! You can move backwards, and you can turn in a

circle. You can even get up on your knees, but you haven’t quite figured out how to move

forward.

- You love to give your Daddy and me kisses. It may sound crazy, but you know the word,

“kisses.” Most of the time if we ask for them, you will give them to us. Sometimes you are

quite aggressive, and they are always slobbery! I cherish them though because I know the

time is coming when you won’t give me kisses anymore.

- You have started sucking your lips in, and it is so cute!

-You love your Uncle Tim! He always gets a smile from you, and it is one of the cutest

things ever! It’s really fun to see your 14 and 11 year-old uncles play with you!

-You are still sleeping through the night! Unfortunately, you are still rolling over on your

belly to sleep, too. You still don’t want to take naps. Although the last few days you have

fallen asleep on the way home from lunch, and I have carried you in your car seat into your

room, and you have stayed asleep for a little while.

- Sometimes you are fine in the car, and sometimes you scream like it is the worst thing

you have ever experienced! Thankfully during those times you almost always wear yourself

out and fall asleep.

- You try your best to get people to notice you when we are in public. At restaurants you

will pick a person and stare and smile at him/her until you get a smile in return. Recently

you have started being very noisy at restaurants. You aren’t even mad. You just like to

squeal.

- Still no teeth!

-We are still working on your head tilt. Hopefully Dr. Adams will say that it has improved

when we see him next week.

- You still like your burp cloths, but now you are more interested in your toys. Almost

everything goes into your mouth now…which is difficult on Mommy’s germophobia.

- You can sit up on your own now. You usually tip after a little while or when you try to

reach for something, but when you first started sitting up, you would get a big smile on

your face like you were so proud of yourself.

- Now that you can sit up, you will stay in your pack-and-play or crib and play with your

toys for a few minutes without getting mad that you aren’t being held. Sometimes I lay a

big sheet on the floor and let you play on that.

- You still suck on your fingers and thumb.

-You still love to be held, but you are getting very squirmy.

-Lately you haven’t liked getting your diaper changed as much… especially when it is the

first one after you wake up. Sometimes you are still goofy during them though.

-You aren’t getting the hiccups as much anymore, thankfully!

- Your right tear duct is still clogged. I really hope it gets better soon!

- You like bath time. You really like sucking the water off of a washcloth. Once you can sit

up a little better, it will be time for bath toys!

- You are a ham! You love it when you get undivided attention, and you know how to smile

for a camera!

- Just in the last few days you have really started babbling. You have been talking to

yourself in the car constantly! You have also started making a kkkkkkk sound, and spitting

(for lack of a better word).

- You really like riding in your stroller. We’ve started using our umbrella stroller more,

and you just look around and kick your feet.

- You grab your feet, but you have never tried to put them in your mouth.

Now that I have caught up on your monthly updates, I am hoping to be able to write

shorter posts about fun things that we do, and add more pictures of you more frequently.

We’ll see. Maybe I’ll even add recipes again, but I know the grandparents that are reading

don’t care as much about that.

Eliana - 5 Months!

Eliana you are 5 months old!!!

-You are still wearing 3-6 month clothing, with some 6 months mixed in.

-You are still wearing a size 2 diaper, but I’m not sure how much longer that will last.

- I’m not sure how much you weigh now. I would guess 15 something.

- I also don’t know how long you are right now.

-You are still refusing to take a bottle. I sound like a broken record when it comes to that.

It’s gotten to the point that we don’t even try very often…although we probably should.

- You have eaten rice cereal and avocado. The first time you had the rice cereal was July

14th. You didn’t complain or fuss, but you weren’t really sure what was going on. You were

pretty messy after it. You also liked playing with the spoon. We took some with us to a

restaurant a few days later, and you did great! You seemed to actually eat more than you

spit out that time. You’ve only tried avocado a couple of times, and I’m not sure if you like

it or not. We will keep trying! It was hard for me to give you solids for the first time. Prior

to that, all of your nutrition had come from me, and I wasn’t ready to give that up.

Honestly, I’m still struggling with it.

- You can roll from your back to your belly now! You started doing that on July 16th. You

can roll from your stomach to your back, but you forget that you can. I think you prefer to

be on your belly anyway.

- You have also started reaching for people if they reach for you first. I love it!!!

- My favorite thing that you do is give us kisses! They are quite slobbery, but oh how I love

it!

-You still go to sleep almost every night without any problems! We did Ferber you one

night (7-20-12). You kept rolling over on your stomach as soon as we would put you in bed,

but it would make you mad. It took about 4 trips into your room at increasing intervals

before you finally went to sleep. I rarely hear you cry like that. It was pretty hard on

Mommy.

-You are still sleeping through the night! You make Mommy nervous though because you

have started rolling over on your belly in your sleep.

- You have gotten better about riding in your car seat, except for the last car ride of the day.

I’m not sure how, but somehow you know when it is the last ride of the day. You tend to

pitch a fit unless we play our Adele cd. Usually if we play Adele you will calm down and fall

asleep.

- It cracks me up how much attention you get when we go places. You love smiling at

people! You wanted to be the center of attention at the baby shower I threw for my friend

Lindsey (7-15-12)!

- I still think you are teething, but I don’t see any teeth, yet.

-We are still working on turning your head to the left. At your 4 month appointment, Dr.

Adams noticed that you still had a pretty bad head tilt, and you didn’t turn your head as far

to the left as you did to the right. You are slowly getting better. We try to put your toys on

the left and get people to stand to the left so you have to turn that way to see them.

-You like toys even more now!

- You still love your burp cloths.

- You still like to suck on your fingers, but you have also found your thumb.

-You still love to be held.

-You still enjoy diaper changes but not as much as you did, which makes me a little sad.

-You still get the hiccups quite a bit.

- Your right tear duct is still clogged. That poor little eye runs a lot!

- You got in a pool for the first time on August 4th. You really seemed to like it, but it was a

little too cool to stay in it for long.

- You started dropping toys on purpose on July 18th. Yay for learning and developing!

-You like looking at and holding books...which makes this momma happy.

- You make one particular face that Daddy and I call the "crinkle nose." We love it!

- You are absolutely hilarious, and you crack me up on a daily basis.

Eliana - 4 months!

Eliana you are 4 months old!!!

-You are wearing mostly 3-6 month clothing. I can still squeeze you into a few 3-month

outfits and you can wear 6-month ones, also.

-You are still wearing a size 2 diaper.

- You weighed 14 lbs 8 oz at your 4-month doctor’s appointment.

- You were 24.5 inches long at your appointment, and I’m not sure what your head

circumference measurement was.

- You did fine while getting your shots again. You looked at the nurse after the 2nd one as if

you couldn’t believe she did it again. You got a little fussier after these, broke out a little at

the injection site, and you definitely ran a fever. Dr. Adams told us to only give you Tylenol

if you got really fussy, but we never had to give it to you. You did wake up in the middle of

the night for a few nights after your shots.

-You are still refusing to take a bottle. I love nursing you, but sometimes it would really be

helpful if we could give you a bottle.

-You are still sleeping through the night! However, Daddy decided that when we got back

from our trip to Florida it was time to move you into your crib in your room. I was very

sad! You still sleep through the night, but you wake up about an hour earlier every morning

(6:30 am). I really miss having you sleep so close to us, but I know it’s best for everyone.

- You have gotten better about riding in your car seat, but I started getting really worried

about it on our trip to Florida. We had to drive to Alabama first (7 hours) because Daddy’s

grandfather died, and you slept almost the whole way. We stopped in Chattanooga for a

couple of hours on the way to let you get out of the car. That seemed to help. You only

fussed once we got to Birmingham, which is only about an hour away from Tuscaloosa.

Once we left Alabama we drove halfway to Orlando and stopped at a hotel. You did fine on

that trip, also. The next morning we got up and drove the rest of the way. You fussed a

little, but it wasn’t bad at all (maybe 2 out of 17 total driving hours). However, once we got

to Orlando anytime we drove around town during the trip you were fussy. I thought we had

broken you. We left Orlando and went to Ocala for a few days, and it was the same there.

We think it was because there was usually someone in the backseat with you, and you

thought they could save you and get you out of your seat. We couldn’t decide if we wanted

to drive home in 1 day or 2, but we ended up doing it in 1. You slept almost the whole way,

and I was very afraid that you wouldn’t sleep that night. It took awhile to get you to sleep

(midnight), but once you did you were fine. I think you were just ready to play after

sleeping all day. It was also the first time you slept in your room (6-26-12). It was a rough

night for Mommy, but you did fine!

-You still go to sleep almost every night without any problems!

- In Alabama we stayed with Daddy’s great aunt, JoAnn. As soon as we walked into her

house, you had the biggest spit up I have ever seen you have, and it went all over her nice,

clean floor.

-You chatted through the whole funeral, and I think you were trying to sing with Daddy

when he was singing.

-You loved going to Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure because there was so much

to look at!

-You have started turning in your crib. You go to sleep facing one direction and by morning

you have rotated 90 degrees.

- You pooped constantly in Florida! There were some days where you did it at least 8

times!

- Everyone thinks you are just too cute!

- I still think you are teething, but I don’t see any teeth, yet.

-You can lift your head to a 90 degree angle when you are on your belly and lift up on your

hands.

-You really like toys now. I bought you a new toy for our trip, and you enjoyed it. We call it

your Woozle.  Nana bought you an elephant that makes a crinkly sound and its legs are

designed for you to chew on. You really like it, too. We call it either your Heffalump or

your Ellie-phant. The Heffalump and Woozle names came from Winnie the Pooh. We keep

both of those toys in your car seat. Once we got home from Florida, it was like you loved

toys all of a sudden. When we put you in your  exersaucer you cared about the toys on it for

the first time.

- You still love your burp cloths.

- You still like to suck on your fingers, but you have also found your thumb. So far, you are

not a constant thumb sucker, though.

-Your eyes are still stunning, and I love your chubby cheeks and thighs.

-You still love to be held.

-You still enjoy diaper changes.

- You are giggling more now. Sometimes you will even giggle at me when I am feeding you.

-You still get the hiccups a lot.
